Terms

Rlj- reverse lock join.  Switch the threads while making a lock join by passing the ball thread through the lock join before taking up  the slack on the join.  You will need this on Day 2

Vsp  very small picot

Lj lock join.  Remember that above every lock join a very small picot is made and this is a place that we will use to join to later.

SCMR    self closing mock ring

Ss switch shuttles

Materials

2 shuttles or 1 needle

Red and white thread (about 4 yards of each if using size 20 thread)

Day 1

2 shuttles, 1 with red thread, 1 with white thread

Start with red thread

R             10 vsp 10

Add white thread for a white chain

Round 1

C             14 lj (vsp on R) 14 lj (to beginning of round)

Round 2

C             3 vsp 3 vsp 3 vsp 3 vsp 3 vsp 3 lj (vsp of last round) 3 vsp 3 vsp 3 vsp 3 vsp 3 vsp 3 lj (beginning of round)

Coming Soon- A Very Canadian Tat-a-long 2023

For the last few years I've shared a mini tat-a-long leading up to Canada Day and the 4th of July. This year the Very Canadian Tat-a-long will only be 2 days, starting on Friday and ending on Saturday. You will need red and white thread and 2 shuttles if you are a shuttle tatter. Needle tatters only need one needle. For this year you will use something called a reverse lock join. Fortunately the amazing Jane Eborall has instructions for this join here The 4th of July tat-a-ling will start in July 2nd and will last 3 days. You will need thread on red, white and blue.

Clowder Star Pattern

 So wow!  Its been since December 14th that I've posted?  So my first pattern of the year is here a little later than planned.  No one here is surprised....

I thought that the points on this star looked like cat ears and to me it looks like a circle of cats.  A grouping of cats is called a clowder so I named this doily the Clowder Star.  At some point in time I will do a larger version based off this star but right now I am obsessed by the Renulek Spring Doily 2023!

Santa Mug

This pattern was inspired by the Santa Mug cross stitch pattern found on the Pinker n Punkin Quilting Blog. Melissa has a long history of sharing beautiful and unique cross stitch and quilting patterns for free. The original inspiration is the classic Santa Mug and this version is based on one that I purchased at the Dollar tree.

b- bead  (The beads in this design go on the core thread.  This means that you leave the bead on the shuttle and pull it up when indicated.  Needle tatters need to make sure that the bead fits over the needle and they will add it when indicated)  I used beads that are approximately size 6 for the blue and 10 for the red

Crochet hook

2 blue beads and 1 red bead- put on shuttle thread in order of blue, pink, blue

Shuttle tatters add beads before winding thread.

Needle tatters the bead color will be indicated in brackets

Happy Thanksgiving!!! Quaker Pumpkin Pattern

 Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

To celebrate fall and Thanksgiving I have a little pattern for you.  There is a pumpkin patch version to come later.  I just have to hide the ends before sharing it with you!  

The pattern is called Quaker Pumpkin and is inspire by a cross stitch pattern by Liz Mathews.  Please let me know if there is any additional information that you think the pattern needs or if there is something missing.
