I think there's a more important consideration- the designer may just decide to pack their bags and go home. They'll continue to design but they won't share, leaving the rest of us to miss out. As someone who struggled to find tatting patterns I find this a daunting prospect.

I agree with everything this lady says in her post. I spend time checking Pinterest for my copyrighted patterns and getting them removed, and this is time I don't spend designing. It may put me in an ill mood so I don't feel like tatting all day.I don't like to let the copyright infringement stand, because the income from my books makes a difference in making ends meet. And yes, sometimes I wonder if publishing more patterns is worth it anymore.
